Allotment of Roll Numbers
Each applicant is assigned a unique Roll Number, often linked to their application ID.

3. Exam Center Allotment (Based on Preference)
At application time, candidates select preferred centers in order (e.g., Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow).
Centers are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Early applicants usually get their top choices.
Late applicants may get second/third preference or nearby alternatives if a center fills up.

4. Preparation of E-Admit Cards
The e-admit card includes:
Candidate name, roll number, photo/signature
Exam center name + address
Date, session (morning/afternoon), and instructions
It's digitally signed and available as a PDF (no physical copies sent).

5. Release via UPSC Portal

UPSC releases the admit card 15–20 days before the exam on:

6. Email / SMS Alerts (Optional)
Some candidates get an alert if they opted in for notifications, but it's not guaranteed.

📍 HOW UPSC ALLOTS EXAM CENTERS

1. Candidate Preference
During application, you choose up to 3 or more exam centers.
Centers are allotted based on availability and order of application submission.

2. Capacity Management
Every center has a limited number of seats.
Once full, that center becomes unavailable for later applicants.

3. Nearby Alternatives
If all preferred centers are full, UPSC may allot a nearby city (e.g., someone choosing Delhi might get Noida or Ghaziabad).

4. Randomization & Security
Seating plans and candidate roll numbers are randomized.
This prevents cheating and ensures fair distribution.

During form filling, you select your preferred centres for both Prelims and Mains.
Popular centres (like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai) fill up fast; filling the form early gives you better chances

2. Separate Choices for Each Stage

You must choose Prelims and Mains centres independently during the application .
There's no requirement that both centres be in the same city or state.

3.Capacity Limits
Each centre has a seating limit.
Once a centre is full, it’s removed from further preference lists .

4.No Post‑allotment Changes
After UPSC confirms the centre and issues your admit card, no changes are allowed

Once admit cards are released, log into your UPSC account, download them, and confirm:
Centre name, full address, reporting time, and session details
